July was a good reading and resting month for me. I did the latter a little too much making my July Wrap-up a little late.
I present my July reads and a few lines on what I thought of them.
The Girl with the Dragon tattoo – Stieg Larsson
The Girl with the Dragon tattoo was one of many books I was highly anticipating. Millennium series is one of the most raved about books in the thriller /mystery genre, I was bursting at the seams to start this series, and I loved it. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
The Hate U Give is another book that is raved about in the book community and whether you are a fan of YA or not, this book crosses genre lines and preferences and is a must read. Brilliant, impactful, and funny… Yes funny. This book has it all.
I am not your Negro – James Baldwin and Raoul Peck
I partially enjoyed I am not your Negro and was partially lost. I believe to understand the book, the screen play needs to be seen, as it is written based on a film by Raoul Peck. I understood some parts of the book, but was confused due to the structure of the narrative.
Hickory Dickory Dock – Agatha Christie
Another Agatha Christie book, Hickory Dickory Dock provides another reason why the existence of Hercule Poirot is a gift.
Those were my reads in July. Let me know if you have read any of the books in the list and if you enjoyed them.
